Ryan has been traveling the world since he was very young. As an adult, he has lived in 4 different countries. He has held various academic positions and has taught all age levels – from pre-K to university. He has a teaching license for the state of Florida in two different subject areas. His research in education has focused on how knowledge is acquired, different foundationalist theories of development, and second-language learning acquisition. He currently is focusing on implementing engaging and interactive methods of teaching that move the learning from teacher-centered to student-centered, using different cognitive levels of engagement to scaffold lessons and materials for all learners to succeed.
